Who enters

MEP and fire-protection engineering firms submit their own figures during the annual survey. The list is ordered by MEP design revenue specifically, not by total firm revenue — which is why a large multidisciplinary firm can rank below a smaller specialist one.

Categories include

A sample, not the full list — these programs restructure their categories between years. Consulting-Specifying Engineer publishes the current one.

What it signals when you’re hiring

Metro Associates’ own read, not Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s.

Not an award at all, and worth saying so plainly: it is a size ranking. It is on this page because it is the fastest way to see which firms are large enough to have the department a candidate says they ran, and which are not.

Roles whose work ends up in an entry like this

  • MEP Practice Lead
  • Director of Engineering
  • Principal

We staff the firms that enter. We don’t enter.

Metro Associates is a recruiting firm, and a recruiting firm is not eligible for an engineering award. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a winner of the MEP Giants. The Consulting-Specifying Engineer name and mark belong to Consulting-Specifying Engineer, shown here to identify the program it runs. What we do is place the engineers whose work goes into entries like it.
